Our Group

Together to help save more lives

Accomplishing our goal requires a collective effort.

Laerdal, a family-owned business, is not just one company, but a group of diverse companies all dedicated to our goal of helping save one million more lives, every year, by 2030.

Our different operations cover:

  • Product and solutions.
  • Financial mission.
  • Financial investment.

To reach our One Million Lives goal, we develop technologies focused on two things: advancing simulation-based training and improving quality in treatment and care.

Laerdal Medical

A world leader for simulation-based medical education and resuscitation training as well as medical devices. Our solutions are used by voluntary organizations, educational institutions, hospitals, and the military worldwide.

Case study: NeoBeat - How it all works together

In 2012, Laerdal Foundation funded a research project for Safer Births, investigating cardio respiratory transition at birth. The PhD endeavor sought to develop tools for guiding medical staff in treating asphyxiated newborns without adding clinical burden.

Our Strategic Research team joined the study and pursued further research in collaboration with our partner facilities leading to the development of NeoBeat.

In 2018, NeoBeat Heart Rate Monitor was first launched into Tanzania via Laerdal Global Health.

This pathway spurred an area of opportunity recognition by Laerdal Million Lives Fund. As NeoBeat continued to collect more data, there were insights that informed investment decisions moving forward.

After receiving CE certification under the EU MDR, NeoBeat was introduced to a wider audience on Laerdal Medical.

Additionally, NeoBeat is a part of the Safer Births Bundle of Care, one of the initiatives being funded for further outreach by the Laerdal Scale up Fund.
